
For most people, college is a great experience. However, paying for it is not. With tuition costs consistently rising, Upromise partnered with leading companies to ease the fear that comes from
mounting school loans. Wanting to increase the visibility of their philanthropic efforts, they looked for Centra to help.
Upromise went back to school with the
Tuition Tales video contest in which participants created 30-second videos to be posted online, featuring why they or someone they know deserved to win money for
college. Videos were voted on by the public and three Grand Prize winners received $10,000. Other finalists were awarded prizes from key partners Bed Bath & Beyond, Bank of America and Visa. An
additional instant win game and online sweepstakes allowed participants a chance to win gift cards from Upromise partners. The online marketing promotion was featured at www.upromise.com, in email
blasts to sponsor members and non-members, and with point-of-sale materials distributed to designated retailer locations throughout the U.S.
The overwhelming success of
Tuition Tales resulted in a second installment of the program in 2009. In college terms, Centra earned the distinction summa cum laude.
